For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of opening a school.
Now it is actually happening and I am so ready for all the amazing moments and memories we will create.
At about 7 years old, sitting in the living room, my Grandmother turned to me and asked ‘What’s that you’re doing?’.
I replied ‘It’s a school, I want to make a school when I’m a grown up.’
Now I can continue a journey where I get to help shape a generation of creators, thinkers and dreamers.
I had detailed the classrooms, the garden with vibrant flowers, and even two extravagant houses for boarding pupils.
‘Oh that’s very good.’ Grandma said, ‘…and I’m sure you will have your school one day.’
I have always been a creator, a thinker, a dreamer. I opened my London Dance School at 21 years old, fresh out of University, without the proper Dance Teacher qualifications at first, and with only 6 pupils. Despite opening it with virtually no planning, it was a great success and well established by its 2nd year. I thought that The Victoria School of Dance was my forever school. I watched those pupils grow and shine for over 10 years. I loved every minute I spent teaching, planning and choreographing our next moves.
Little did I know, this was just one chapter of my journey. Everything I have experienced, including being a Primary Teacher and then a Head of Year in England, has led to this moment. I am bursting with excitement to make my dream a reality. I am thankful for all the people in my life that have pushed me to get to this moment. I thank my family, my husband, my children, friends, pupils, parents and colleagues. To everyone who has ever inspired me, challenged me, taught me, influenced me.
Now I can continue a journey where I get to help shape a generation of creators, thinkers and dreamers. The passion I have for creating a wholesome, inspiring, futuristic school, for children to flourish is finally ready to become a reality.
